Portraying the men of the
2 Kompanie SS Aufklärung Abt. Waffen SS Division "Das Reich"
The Waffen (or armed) SS were the elite of the German forces and the unit depicted, 2nd SS ‘Das Reich’ were possibly the most famous (and infamous) of the Waffen SS formations. Known as “The Fuhrer’s Fire Brigade” they were often rushed from trouble spot to trouble spot to shore up defence or provide added weight to an attack. They fought with distinction in all theatres of the European conflict, spearheaded the invasion of Russia, and became the most decorated German unit during WW II.
The unit we portray is the Aufklarungsabteilung (reconnaissance) group who would have been lightly armed and armoured. Their job would be to provide the eyes and ears of the division, probing the enemy positions and investigating terrain to the front of the main unit.

W.A.R.S. Das Reich are a non-political society of World War II "living historians", we re-enact the fighting men of the 2 Kompanie, Aufklärungabteilung, 2 Waffen SS Panzer Grenadier Division, "Das Reich". A Reconnaissance Kompanie.
We attend public shows and present living history displays and battle re-enactments, for educational purposes and to help keep the memory of this sad time in human history alive, least we forget.
This is our hobby, we are not neo Nazis, we have no extreme views, as a society or as individual members, nor are we gun crazed lunatics. We do not seek or want any form of contact with any extremist groups or persons.
